Chloe is 4 1/2 months old!
Here is a combined blog posting for 3 & 4 months - can't wait for July 1 when life will slow down a little bit!
Weight: 12 lbs, 1 oz (about 20th percentile)
Length: 24.5" (about 50th percentile)
Moods: She is such a happy girl! When you greet her and she gives you a big toothless grin - there is nothing better!
Favorite foods: We started rice cereal last weekend - not sure what she thinks of the cereal itself, but she is so eager to eat from the spoon! Other than that, she is exclusively formula fed. We started supplementing with formula at 3 months, and my supply steadily decreased until last week. It was sad to have my body force weaning before I was ready, but I know that, with this job and schedule, we did the very best we could!
Favorite toy: She loves her jumperoo! She is so tiny in it....we have an anesthesia textbook underneath so she can reach the floor. :-) In just a couple weeks, she has gone from just sitting there chewing on the seat fabric (:-P) to bouncing, playing with the toys, squealing with delight.
Favorite hobby: People watching - she is so alert when we go out to eat or run errands - she loves all the activity. And people love her and her gorgeous little head of blond hair - she attracts a lot of attention from strangers, and makes so many people smile. :-)
Playtime: We spend time in the jumperoo, on the activity mat, or reading/singing.
Sleep: We are struggling here - please pray! She regressed from 2 feeds per night to 3, and this lasted for more than a week. Mommy and daddy are quite tired. :-( We have started a more consistent bedtime routine, including rice cereal, bath time, and a noise machine. We seem to be back to 2 feeds/night, and hopefully things will continue to improve....
Milestones:
-Social: She gives her smiles freely, and seems to laugh every once and awhile.
-Language: She has so many sounds! There are coos and squeals -she also has syllables such as 'ma' and 'ba'.
-Gross motor: She rolled over last weekend! (She did this once, nearly a month ago, but had grabbed onto something and assisted herself....) She has great head control and her trunk control is improving rapidly. If I am charting and having her next to me, she prefers to be in the Bumbo seat rather than on her back - gotta see the world! She also hates tummy time, but about a week ago, we found that she can prop on her elbows and keep her head at 90 degrees - so I think she likes it more now that she can see what's going on. :-)
-Fine motor: She has been grabbing at the toys suspended from the toy bar for several weeks now.....and she's just now starting to grab things next to her/in her lap. She can definitely transfer to her mouth - all toys go here, and she is often found chewing on her fists. She is so enthralled with having her hands in her mouth that she will sneak a thumb in her mouth while sucking on the bottle. :-)
She is so beautiful! I bet you are very excited for having a little more free time to hang out with her in just a month... woohoo! Praying your sleep works out soon - I can't imagine how tough it is to work your type of shifts being sleep deprived!
