Mom and Dad's Visit and The Nursery

It's hard to believe it's been a year since mom and dad visited NC! They came to visit last weekend, and were a huge help in getting the nursery ready.

We painted Friday morning - a pale green color.

After Mark came home from a 30-hour call, and dad and I cleaned up from painting, we drove to Asheville to see the Biltmore. We were all tired, but it was worth it when we (miraculously) arrived right at 4:30 to be the last people admitted to the house. It was the first day of their Christmas season - they had just put up the 50-foot Christmas tree in the dining room that morning! (See Nov 2010 blog for more pics of the house at Christmas time...)

It was sunset when we exited the house........

Though it was November, they still had some beautiful floral displays....

There was also a lovely display of Tiffany lamps in the Village.

We then drove from Asheville to Roanoke to see Dana and Adam! After we all slept in :-), Dana took us on a tour of Roanoke as it was Mom, Dad, and Mark's first visit. We went to the market downtown and then toured her school....here's the view from her classroom.

We walked to a few downtown attractions, including the historic Hotel Roanoke.

After lunch at home, we went for a fall drive in the mountains.........

concluding on the Blue Ridge Parkway

We ended our drive at the Roanoke Star, overlooking downtown.

Sunday was full of relaxation and good food - we went to Thelma's Chicken and Waffles for breakfast, and later went to the old-fashioned ice cream shop before leaving town. :-)

On Monday, dad and I applied a second coat of paint to the nursery. We also got much of the furniture assembled before they headed to the airport. Mark was very surprised when he arrived home from work - we just finished the crib assembly and decorated (or nested). :-) So baby girl has a nursery now!

The refurbished bookshelf and the glider.....

The little animals are soft but flat - they will hang on the wall above the crib.

The changing table/dresser, turtle nightlight, and hamper

Thanks to mom and dad for all your help, and to Dana and Adam for hosting us over the weekend! Love you!
