Jim and Marilyn's Visit - Day 1

Mark's parents arrived late Sunday night from California, for a weeklong visit. We were so excited to show them around Winston-Salem and NC, especially during this beautiful spring season!

On Monday, we toured the hospital.....

Including the beautiful chapel....

We then went to Reynolda Village and Gardens.

We had a yummy picnic on this bench in the gardens.

We then walked to the former home of RJ Reynolds and his wife

And strolled through the beautiful flower and vegetable gardens

Pitcher plant

Hibiscus

We sampled some pink lemonade cake from Dewey's Bakery.....

Before heading to Old Salem

The cemetary was hauntingly beautiful, with its endless rows of simple white headstones. The men, women, and children are buried in separate areas, to reflect the way they are seated during church services.

First grave

We headed to the house for a home-cooked meal....chicken, shallots, sweet potatoes, and green beans. Yum!

After dinner, we watched 'Inception' before heading to bed, worn out from our day of walking.
