March 2010

This little cutie is my godson, Caleb. He turned 5 this month! Our fridge now displays the hand-drawn Thank You note he sent us - so adorable!

And guess who else had a birthday? Our nephew Jayden is 2 already!! I wish we could have been there to celebrate with these two little sweethearts!

I attended many lunches and dinners for residency applicants this winter - and now, Match Day!!! The new intern class has been chosen! Hard to believe that it was 1 year ago that Mark and I found out we would be training at Wake Forest. And guess what? My good friend Lisa, from high school, matched in Asheville, NC. I see a road trip to Asheville, Lisa, and the famous Biltmore Estate in our future!

In between crazy long shifts, Mark and I have found some time to relax. We're currently reading this Bill Bryson novel together. Have also seen some good movies lately - strongly recommend Invictus and The Blind Side, if you haven't seen them.

Mark recently planted a dogwood tree in our front yard. We hope in about 10 years it will look like this. :-) Right now it's very tiny, but it does have some spring buds! Spring has sprung in NC! There are many trees blooming around town - pinks and whites and purples. . . .

In upcoming news - Mom, Dad, Anna, and Ryan are coming to visit! In just 2 weeks! Will blog about their visit soon - I promise to not be such a stranger!

  1. Glad you are surviving your residency rotations! I know its grueling with many long hours. Have thought and prayed for you many times. Glad you got away for a few hours. Have a blessed Easter season!

  2. It is so good to see the pics (besides hearing the words about your lives.) And congrats on your progress; now you can start the countdown to the end of this first grueling year of residency. Keep up the good work--we are praying for you!
