Celebrate!


When Mark and I finally put away the last pile of 'stuff', we opened up a bottle of wine that I brought back from France in 2001. That bottle has been to many places! Ames, Sioux City, Iowa City, North Carolina.....not to mention France. :-) It was ready to be opened, and the feat of unpacking was definitely one to celebrate!

Vacation!!!

Mark and I had a week off in late October - we took a cruise to the Bahamas! Here we are on the deck of the ship....the beautiful Charleston bridge is behind us (PS - so nice to drive to the port in Charleston, SC - no flying involved! Thanks to Matt and Lauren for the bed and transportation!) Our ship, in Nassau Sunset view from the deck Halloween was just around the corner. They had lots of decorations on board, and a costume contest. Dessert one night included 'batman cake' and this pumpkin cheesecake with a pastry ghost. Of course, the towel animals greeted us in our cabin every night. :-) The waterslide Our first port of call was in Nassau. We had been before, on our honeymoon cruise - at that time, we visited Atlantis. Here it is, across the bay. This time, we decided to go snorkeling. The water was great, even in October! 8 months old and newly mobile!

Pulling the blocks down Eating the blocks Weight: 17 pounds Moods:  Happy except for meal time....lots of grunting and growling that is hard to interpret (Are you done?  Wanting more?  Wanting to feed yourself???) Favorite Foods:  She loves to feed herself and is doing well with her pincer grasp.  She has tried chicken, hamburger, and ham.  Likes yogurt and cheese.  She loves crackers and Cheerios.  Any berries or soft fruit are a hit.  Also loves roasted sweet potatoes. Teeth:  None yet!  Our latest teether for sure... Favorite toys:  Things with buttons, her farm set. Favorite hobby:  Trying to crawl up the one stair from the carpet to the hardwood; trying to pull up on things. Playtime:  Floor time to practice her mobility.....but now that she's crawling, you've got to watch her like a hawk!
